TED Talk: Teach girls bravery, not perfection

We're raising our girls to be perfect, and we're raising our boys to be brave, says Reshma Saujani, the founder of Girls Who Code. Saujani has taken up the charge to socialize young girls to take risks and learn to program — two skills they need to move society forward. To truly innovate, we cannot leave behind half of our population, she says. "I need each of you to tell every young woman you know to be comfortable with imperfection."

Happy Pi Day!!!

Last year, we celebrated an epic Super Pi Day! "Why was it epic?!?" you ask. The date this time last year was 3/14/15 (four decimal places of pi) and around 9:26 am we achieved seven decimal places (3.1415926)...an occurrence which will not happen again until March 15, 2115. Nevertheless, today we celebrate a "rounded up" Pi Day (and, coincidentally, Albert Einstein's birthday). Enjoy!

Here are suggestions for celebrating Pi Day today:

Today is the inaugural International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

In December 2015, the United Nations passed a resolution to recognize on February 11 each year women's contributions to the field.
The UN's research showed females "continued to be excluded from participating fully in science", with the number of science graduates significantly lower than males.
That doesn't mean women have not excelled in science — far from it.
