The National Society of Black Engineers is bringing the Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) Program to Atlanta this
summer. The Summer Engineering Experience for Kids’ program, (SEEK),
is the National Society of Black Engineers’ (NSBE) premiere solution to
the underrepresentation of African American students in the Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields. The free, three week commuter program is
a STEM pipeline designed to expose African American children to STEM
fields as early as the third grade and through the twelfth grade. In
addition, this exposure will be provided by utilizing NSBE members, who
are collegiate students, majoring in STEM fields. From its
inception, NSBE’s SEEK program quickly established itself as the largest
STEM program for African American children and mentors in the nation!
The information has been forwarded to all elementary school principals
within your district. We would really like for students to take
advantage of this exciting opportunity.
This free, three-week program will be open to female students who are current third – fifth graders. Online registration is on a first come basis and can be accessed at http://www.nsbe.org/Seek/Registration.aspx. The program will be held atthe Fickett Elementary – 3935 Rux Road S.W. Atlanta GA
30331 from June 23 – July 11, and will include 100 students in each
grade level, for a total of 300 students served per program. Fifty
African American female collegiate mentors will be utilized to
facilitate the program. The camp is a commuter-based program for
